Stating that Gmail is one of the greatest technical achievements of modern era is not farfetched considering the impact Gmail has made in the way we manage our e-mails. Without Gmail it’s hard to imagine processing 100′s of emails every day with exceptional efficiency. Here some awesome tips & tricks for Gmail have been given for efficient management.

1. Attachment Alerter:
Forgetting to add important attachments with an e-mail is a very common mistake & may cause miscommunication between sender & receiver and it makes people look very unprofessional. Gmail’s Attach Alerter is the cure. If the word ‘attach’ exists in the mail content & someone forgets to add an attachment then an alert will be generated. To enable this: go to “Settings” > click “labs” > enable “Forgotten Attachment Detector” > save changes.

2. Use of Labels:
The days of using folders for organizing are over. Back in the day one had to create great many folders in yahoo & hotmail account for organization of various types of e-mails. Gmail grants us complete freedom from that mundane task of organization. Labels are like tags. Using various labels & attaching it to emails makes it easier to retrieve e-mails & bookmark them. Go to “Settings” > enter name in “Label” > create.

3. Searching and using Highlighting:
Searching & indexing are core components of Google 7 this feature works with extreme efficiency in Gmail. Searching can be executed in all emails or particular labels, bringing in exact results every-time. By Default, searched words in Gmail are highlighted but due to some users finding this process un-necessary or distracting there is an option in Gmail for turning this feature on-off.

4. Attachment of Executable (.EXE) files in Gmail:
Executable files are not processed as normal files in Gmail and will generate an error for security reasons if .EXE files are found in an attachment. Due send in an .EXE file using Gmail- Without using .EXE extension rename the file > compress the file using a compressor. The file will be uploaded now & can be sent via e-mail. The receiver needs to de-compress the file & rename the file using .EXE extension.

5. Importing Contacts:
Gmail allows importing contacts from Yahoo, Outlook & Orkut. Contacts can be imported from CSV file. Go To “contacts” > click “Import” > browse CSV file to import > click “Import”.

6. Group E-mails:
Gmail allows grouping of e-mails in a single unit. Go to “Contacts” > click “+icon” (new group) & name it > add & remove contacts from the group.

7. Gmail Themes:
Look & themes of an account can be changed in Gmail. Go to “Settings” > click “Themes” > choose one of the many themes or customize the theme using Country or City.

8. Display Language:
Display language can be changed in Gmail. Go to “Settings” > choose the desirable language using “Gmail Display Language” > click “save changes” for displaying the chosen language.
