Best Photo Editing Apps

Photo editing is no longer a job just for professional photographers. Every person who owns a smart phone (or any mobile/cell phone) has, at some time edited a photo or two. There are a lot of image editing apps on the market, but which ones are the best?  If you’re looking for some really easy and fun ways to edit your photos, we’ve looked at a range of apps and here are the contenders:

Photo editing APP 1: Instagram

This is one of my favourite apps all together. Not only has it got 17 great effects, it's also a social network. Your profile can be set to ‘Public’ (anyone can like your photos), or ‘Private’ (other users have to request your permission to follow you. Only followers can ‘like’ your photos).

Instagram gives you the option to like and comment on other people's photos, and grow your network with like-minded photographers. You also have the ability to tag your photos or search keywords/tags to find other people with the same interests as you. On the editing page of the app you can change the frame, rotate the photo, or add an effect which mystifies the background of your image. Best of all, you can connect and share your Instagram photos to Twitter and Facebook. It's free and available for Apple, Android and some other touch screen camera phones.

Photo editing APP 2; Pic Collage

Pic collage is free and available on iPod, iPhone and iPad. Pic Collage allows you to create your own collages with photos from your camera library, Facebook and other parts of the web. Significant features of this app includes; adding text and stickers to your images, changing the background, and cutting photos. You can create an unlimited amount of collages depending on your interests. And when you're finished you can email your photos, save them to camera roll, Facebook or Twitter. Pic Collage is suitable for the professional photographer, for students of photography, and also for general users just having fun with their creativity.

Photo editing APP 3; Color Effects

‘Color effects’ is completely free and available for Apple devices. This app gives you the option to choose a photo from your camera roll, take a new photo or upload a photo from Facebook . ‘Color Effects’ then makes the photos you chose black and white. You can edit your photos by using your finger as a pencil and colouring them in. You have the option to re-colour the photo (chose a colour from the wide range available on this app) or to colour in the photo with the original colour. This app can make photos look really unique and dramatic. For example, you could make the entire photo grey and just colour in the sky or make your hair purple. Nifty tools like the ability to save paintings to your camera roll and change the brush size and transparency give this app the upper-hand over many of the others available.

Have you used these photo editing apps? What do you think of them?  If you have any helpful tips when using any of the above, please share them in the comments section.
