But wait. You don’t have any experience in developing programs, and you’re not exactly swimming in the dough right now. So how do you plan on fulfilling your dreams of becoming an app developer?
You can try out these following three FREE apps that don’t require ANY coding experience:
1. App Inventor – Google has partnered up with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to host a web-based app creation program. Meaning, you don’t even need to use a smartphone to start making apps (but you also have the option to do so).
Basically, you drag and drop items onto a small screen with the size of a typical smartphone to build an interface, integrate media such as video and sound, add social buttons, and more.
Its own interface is incredibly easy to navigate, and you can edit each component and their properties like their display names and sizes. It is still in beta form so there are still a couple of issues Google and MIT are currently working on that you should watch out for, such as missing blocks and not being able to load large projects. And since this is made by Google, you can only create apps for Android smartphones.
2. The App Builder – This web-based app creation software allows you to share your app not just on Android devices but also for the iPhone and Windows OS smartphones. You start with the “App creation wizard,” which guides you through a step-by-step process in making apps.
Put up image galleries or lists of events, cross platforms with Twitter and YouTube, and allow future users to have their say about your app. From there, you can then customize it to your liking through logos, icons, splash screens, and color themes.
Once you’re all done, you can choose to publish it as a simple web app, put it up on major app stores, or make it a private app to share with your loved ones. You can even get handy tips on how to promote your app!
3. buzz touch – For those of you who are willing to learn a bit more about developing apps, buzztouch is the way to go. You’ll find yourself working on the software developer kits (SDK) for the iOS and Android operating systems, giving you greater control than the previous two programs like being able to use plug-ins and compiling source codes.
You don’t have to worry about getting lost, as their website offers plenty of tutorials on how to accomplish everything, from the most basic functions to more advanced ones. They also have an online community that offers quizzes and points to keep you going. Self-hosting is what they promote, so you can get the most out of your app without spending a dime on hosting fees on the big app stores.
With a little time and tinkering, you can be on your way to creating original apps. Give it a shot, and who knows? You might end up making a lot of people happy (and a lot of money in the process).
