2008 - 2009

2012
New third generation Apple iPad got its launch this year (2012 march). Meanwhile, Google renamed the popular android market into Google Play. Total Apple app store downloads reached 25 billion in early this year. Drawsomething and Instagram were the two apps released this year to receive 50 million downloads within six months. Angrybirds happens to be yet well recognized app to have reached an exceeding 1 billion downloads till date. In May 2012, Google Play has witnesses 15 billion downloads. Microsoft releases Windows 8 to bring SmartPhone styled apps to PCs.
