Outsourcing website design has become a common trend amongst a lot of industry biggies. This is owing to innumerable advantages that it has over not outsourcing. Gone are the days when people were sceptical of letting someone sitting miles away shape their online personality.
Every company today, I believe has become more sensitive towards the fact that there is barely anything that one can’t achieve with the help of the internet. This list of achievements encompasses the fact that sitting in one part of the world one can easily outsource their web requirements to some company halfway across the world, owing to better connectivity and real timesharing ability.
The most basic advantages of outsourcing are:
- Time saving
- Money saving
- Higher accessibility
- Search engine friendliness
- Simple site maintenance
- User Interface Index
- Appropriate and flexible solutions at the right time
- Detailed reports
- Optimum use of technical expertise
- Building integrated marketing strategies
- Better aesthetics
- Wide ranging experience
- Wide choice options
A stitchin time saves nine
I couldn’t really appreciate this proverb until some time back, when a client told me how he decided to stick with a local developer for his website requirements although he had a better pricing and service offering from some outsource web design and development company. When I asked him why he did that he said it was because he couldn’t trust someoneso far, in spite of their superior reputation and reviews from other companies.
I was mildly shocked to hear this, but then, he pays the money, so I ask no questions. However, he said that it was the same project he wanted me to work on, because the local developer gave him a substandard website (even after having charged him a bomb). Moral of the story:
- A stitch in time saves nine: had he stuck to the reliable offshore company, he wouldn’t have to repair the site thereby paying twice as much
- Become aware and accept the new trends: it'stime to move on because the world is moving forward and unless you accept its rhythm, you will be left behind and out dated (not to mention the colossalloses that will pile on you)
Now, this does not mean that whatever developers here are doing is a waste and the only salvation is to hire an offshore web developer, no! That’s not what I am saying. If you have found a really good, reliable web designer who is willing to provide you with the best of services at the most competitive prices, then you should surely go for it! (Yes, there are a lot of us out here who could do with another project)But, if his service offerings don’t match your requirements, there is absolutely no need to succumb to whatever is available. There are too many fish in the sea, provided you venture in it.
Do your Bit
Not only is it unfair to leave everything toyour developers and designers, it is also not in your best interests. You must actively participate in the entire process of creating your website. After allit is Your website. Feel possessive about it. Spend some time researching the kind of trends in the market. Analyse the needs of your company and how you think your website can solve it. Create an outline for the ideal website according to you. Keep the purpose that you wish to achieve with that website at the top.
Do a thorough SWOT analysis of the company or individual who is supposed to handle your website. Ensure that you get the proper reviews and speak with previous clients to know exactly if the person is capable enough to undertake your project.
